| मामुपेत्य पुनर्जन्म दुःखालयमशाश्वतम्। | After attaining Me, the great souls, who are yogis in devotion, never return to this temporary world. |
| नाप्नुवन्ति महात्मानः संसिद्धिं परमां गताः॥ | They have attained the highest perfection. |
| अनन्यचेताः सततं यो मां स्मरति नित्यशः। | Always thinking of Me, undivided from Me. |
| तस्याहं सुलभः पार्थ नित्ययुक्तस्य योगिनः॥ | I am easy to obtain, O Arjuna, for that constantly engaged, one who is ever devoted to Me. |
| पतन्ति पितरो ह्येषां लुप्तपिण्डोदकक्रियाः। | Their forefathers fall, deprived of the offerings of pinda (rice cakes) and water. |
| अध्येष्यते च य इमं धर्म्यं संवादमावयोः। | And he who will study this sacred conversation of ours. |
| ज्ञानयज्ञेन तेनाहमिष्टः स्यामिति मे मतिः। | By his sacrifice in knowledge, I shall be worshiped. |
| श्रद्धावाननसूयश्च शृणुयादपि यो नरः। | And the man who hears with faith and without envy. |
| सोऽपि मुक्तः शुभाँल्लोकान्प्राप्नुयात्पुण्यकर्मणाम्। | He too is liberated and attains to the auspicious worlds of the pious. |
| न हि कश्चित्क्षणमपि जातु तिष्ठत्यकर्मकृत्। | No one ever remains inactive even for a moment. |
| कार्यते ह्यवशः कर्म सर्वः प्रकृतिजैर्गुणैः॥ | Everyone is forced to act helplessly according to the qualities he has acquired from the modes of material nature. |
| सत्त्वं रजस्तम इति गुणाः प्रकृतिसम्भवाः। | Goodness, passion, and ignorance — these qualities are produced by material nature. |
| नादत्ते कस्यचित्पापं न चैव सुकृतं विभुः। | The Supreme Lord does not assume anyone’s sinful or pious activities. |
| अज्ञानेनावृतं ज्ञानं तेन मुह्यन्ति जन्तवः॥ | Embodied beings, however, are bewildered because their knowledge is covered by ignorance. |
